The Mask of Fasting

In fasting we come to the loosing of the bonds of ungodliness and breaking of every yoke that were laid on (imposed) through our desires. Fasting is a way the Lord has given to really forgive our debtors.

To receive a true forgiving heart, we need to come to a deep cleansing of our own sins, so that we can be generous toward the sinner, not toward sin.

For a full knowledge is needed from our own heart in the first place. "Is not this the fast that I have chosen, to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke" (Isaiah 58:16).

We also can lose our reward from God in fasting, if we make it a show for men. Our fasting is a private business between us and God and not a public display.
