Exodus 20:12
Matthew 6:25-34 . . . Faith, Trust
We could look upon this commandment as a commentary of Matthew 7:11, "Give us this day our daily bread."
Jesus says unto us, take no thought for your life, concerning daily living. God wants us to honor Him as our heavenly father, just as we honor our father and mother. If we do care about our living, than we are just like the gentiles that walk without God and spend all their energy for daily living.
Behold the fowls of the air, and learn to trust in God for our daily bread. The father in heaven feedeth the fowls. How? We don't know. The Bible tells us we can ask the fowls of the air and they shall tell us (Job 12:7). What a shame on us.
Trust in our heavenly Father who even knows the fowls of the mountain (Psalm 50:11). What a perfect Heavenly Father.
In the book of Isaiah 40:6-8 we read that all flesh is like grass. The children of God on the other hand are like the lily in the field that decorates the grass (1 Peter 1:24).
The grass which shall come in the oven of tribulation and finally in the great tribulation at the end of time. Take therefore no thought for tomorrow. King David said in Psalm 37:25, "I have been young, and now I am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
